DryFeb and my three week update on staying sober for a cause
The Cause
By now maybe you know The Canadian Cancer Society has started an initiative called DryFeb, if not it can be found here online.
And so far 2,476 participants are staying sober for a cause. In exchange for getting through Super Bowl without a pint of beer and Valentine’s day without a nice glass of red wine we are soliciting our friends and family for donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, so far totalling $98,029.
We are at the completion of our third week of being sober for a cause.
My Experience
My third week has quite honestly been the hardest for me. I have had a migraine for the ENTIRE week! And yet I still have not drank, ANYTHING at all.
I might actually deserve a reward at this point.
I totally understand that not drinking booze for a month is a small price to pay to raise money for The Canadian Cancer Society, but this week has just not been my A game.
This friday we took the kids skating at an outdoor rink after school and then choose a few videos to rent at Classic Video, our local video store. By the time that we were done my husband asked if I wanted to stay downtown for a bit, but honestly just the skating and movie deciding was enough to wipe me out for the night and I needed to be at home. And really my weekend did not get more exciting from there. Saturday I cleaned some areas of the house that had been neglected during dental surgery time and now migraine time. But again by the time the necessities were taken care of I was heading to bed right after the kids. And Sunday was migraine death day, I paid dearly for trying to push through it and spent Sunday curled up in the dark with a bowl.
So even if I had been able to drink I might not have since I was under the weather but maybe I would have said yes to staying downtown Friday night and tried to make one evening fun.
I guess we don’t know now. What I do know is that I am three weeks into my DryFeb experience with one week remaining and I look forward to giving you that update.
About that reward though, consider donating to the cause.
Thank-you for following me on this adventure.
